A Walking Tour of the Isle of Dogs with Paul Talling Author of London's Lost Rivers and Derelict London
This Tower Hamlets walk explores the Isle of Dogs proving that there is more to the Island than just the glass and steel of Canary Wharf. This tour incorporates topics covered in Paul's websites: dereliction, a lost canal, former docks plus hidden sites of interest among stories of social history and change in the area.
We visit plenty of interesting locations such as the old docks including the now sealed entrance of Millwall Dock, the lost City/Isle of Dogs Canal, a few remaining pockets of dereliction , the site of previous Millwall football grounds before they moved south of the river, remains of the WW2 concrete anti-aircraft gun site at Mudchute now home to farm animals, evidence of an old rope works, a disused railway viaduct + lots more on this 4-hour walk. The tour ends near Crossharbour DLR where there will be an option to join Paul for an end of tour pint in a local pub.

Meeting outside West India Quay DLR Station.
Tip: its quite quiet around this station on a morning at the weekend. Thereis a Wetherspoons (The Ledger Building) a few minutes walk away which does a decent cheap breakfast.
