London's Lesser Known Rivers - Dead River
This is a river that you are really unlikely to have heard of - neither had I until I spotted it on an Ordnance Survey map.(It wasn't marked on Google Maps at the time)
The mysteriously named Dead River is approximately 2 miles in length and starts in Walton-on-Thames (likely fed by a local pond) and curves around the giant Queen Elizabeth 2 reservoir, then alongside a narrow footpath called Fleet Lane in West Molesey for a final half mile before joining the River Mole (which joins the River Ember just over a mile upriver and just after that the Ember joins the Thames at Hampton Court).
If by any chance somebody knows why this is called the Dead River, please let me know!
